Taylor Averill and Brook Sedore were selected to Volleyball Magazine’s NCAA Men’s All-American list. Averill was picked to the first team while Sedore was a second team selection.
In April, both were named to the AVCA Division I-II All-America teams – Averill to the first team and Sedore honorable mention. In addition, Averill was a first-team all-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation selection while Sedore was named to the second team.
Averill, a junior middle blocker from San Jose, Calif., led the nation in hitting percentage (.477) and ranked eighth in blocking (1.22 per set). He also averaged 2.17 kills per set and had 14 service aces and was UH’s first middle blocker All-American since 2003. In addition to being selected to the all-MPSF first team, he was an MPSF all-academic pick and finished fourth in the Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. National Blocker of the Year voting.
Sedore, junior opposite from Grand Prairie, Alberta, Canada, led the team with a 3.70 kills per set average that ranked ninth in the MPSF and 18th nationally. He also had a team-high 26 service aces and averaged 1.01 digs and 0.55 blocks per set while hitting at a .290 clip.
